The most popular reel in the Bates Fishing Co lineup, the Bates Fishing Co The Goat 150 Casting Reels begin as a solid block of 6061-T6 bar stock aluminium and are cut using a 9-axis CNC machine that brings them to life with the highest level of precision. Featuring custom-machined gears that deliver effortless long-distance casting, The Goat 150 Casting Reel uses no plastic frames, no poured pieces, no kitschy marketing ploys, or ambiguous technological advancements. In other words, there’s no bull, just Bates!
Equipped with the finest combination of internal components to provide smooth casts and reliability, this compact 150-size reel is packed with 10+1 stainless-steel bearings and allows for on-the-fly adjustments with an external magnetic braking system. Backed by a stainless-steel and titanium drag assembly that dishes out up 20lbs of fish-stopping power, each reel is fitted with a 120mm titanium crank arm, laser-engraved cork grips, and a cork thumb bar for a comfortable and secure grip. Including a custom neoprene reel case for added protection, the Bates Fishing Co The Goat 150 Casting Reels are anodised with a clear anti-corrosive finish that provides exceptional durability and allows you to see everything the GOAT has to offer.

Our premium CNC Milled reels come with our flagship “3-Year, No B.S. Warranty.” We’re serious about standing behind the gear that serious anglers trust. If anything goes wrong with your CNC Milled reel within the first three years of ownership, we’ve got your back. In the rare case we can’t repair it, we’ll replace it - no hassle, no nonsense. Most issues are handled well before then, but please allow us up to 30 days for repairs or replacements so we can get you back on the water with the best possible result.
EDC Model Reels – 1-Year Warranty
Our EDC (Every Day Carry) reels are built for reliability and value, and they’re covered by a solid 1-Year Warranty. If any manufacturing defect appears within the first year of ownership, we’ll repair or replace it promptly so your everyday fishing stays uninterrupted.
